  11. Years ago there was a competition in Kumudam. Bhagyaraj left out by design a few lines in a para (on a woman in her toilette) in his serial and asked readers to fill in. A male winner and a female winner were to be selected by the celebrity. The male winner was decided. The lines that I wrote under a pseudonym were chosen but before the announcement they needed to check if the person masquerading under the pseudonym was a female. Someone dropped in and when they saw me in person they withdrew and went after a third choice, obviously a woman. So I lost the chance to be an extra in the Bhagyaraj film that came to the silver screen subsequently.

This was all my brush with Kollywood.

Gayatri, if there is a scene in which there are some jokers around Vadivelu (even if it is in Chennai before he takes off to the black continent), why don't you persuade Mr Ravikumar to give me a fair chance?

  12. I thought today's puzzle was entertaining, especially with clues like 15A and 19A which are not seen that very often.
One question though: "Leaders of Zanzibar" - is this good enough to indicate "Zan" ? I would have personally preferred a more specific indicator.
